After Donna passed away Carl’s identity was gone. Donna had always been his focus and priority. He was her caretaker with all of her medical problems. He took pride in spoiling and taking care of her.
After she was gone, he was lost. He was sad and depressed.
Out of the blue there was Anita! They attended the same church. One Sunday morning Carl was getting a cup of coffee at church and there was Anita . . . she asked Carl if he ever went out for lunch. He said he didn’t like to do that by himself. She said well, I’ll go with you! That’s all it took. The relationship took off from there!
Their dating started off with Sunday lunches after church then it progressed to Carl going to her house on Friday night for a movie. Anita would cook dinner for them or Carl would pick up a pizza.
Carl was giddy! He was like a schoolboy going steady. It was sweet to see how their love was taking off!
As his daughter, I have to admit it was a little strange for me to see my Dad holding hands with a woman who wasn’t my mother. However, I could see the positive changes in him and knew this was something I needed to support.
They were married April, 2017. Anita is so good to Carl. He has a tendency to loose things or forget things. He’s a tad bit disorganized! She keeps him in line!
God knew Carl needed a woman by his side, Anita was the one to fill the emptiness he had. God knows what we need and when we need it and he takes care of those needs!
Anita’s family lives in the same neighborhood as they do and they have welcomed Carl into their lives like their own! I’m so thankful for this family who loves Carl!
