Carl said his family were always democrats. They associated republicans with being wealthy and they definitely weren’t among the wealthy. He said his dad would trick the republicans into giving him a ride to the polls and then vote democrate.

I asked him what what he thought of a couple world events.

– President Kennedy’s assassination: It upset him. He had voted for him.

-The ending of World War II: It was a good feeling. June 6th, 1945.

-Bombing of Pearl Harbor: He doesn’t remember a lot about it. He was 8 years old.
