What was the best advice anyone has given that made the strongest impact on your life? “Keep hoeing or you’ll get a beating” (not sure about this advise from his father but, it obviously left an impact on him)

What memories make you the proudest? Providing better for his family than his parents had. Fighting for his country during his military service.

What stage of life brought you the most happiness? Accepting Christ. Getting married. Having kids

What would you like people to remember most about you? Being friendly, loving his family, friends, Jesus

What is some advice you’d like to pass on to your grandkids? Study more when your young

How can your family honor you after your gone? Study the Bible

What is your favorite topic of conversation? Jesus

What do you remember most about your childhood? Mostly negative, being a loner

What kind of chores did you do as a kid? Taking the slop jar out each morning, clean the sheets since he wet the bed a lot, he did any chore they asked him to do. (The knowledge I have now I’m sure the bed wetting was from his traumatic childhood)

Were you paid for any of these chores? He laughed while he said no!

What was the naughtiest thing you ever did? Locking his Grandma out of her house to be funny. He still feels bad about that.

Did you ever have any childhood diseases? Mumps, measles, chicken pox. He remembers his mom wrapping some fabric around his eyes and walking a long way to the doctor when he had the measles.

Who was your best friend as a child? He can’t remember having any friends, there wasn’t much time for play.

What was your favorite past time as a child? Did you have a special place to hangout? Lay in the yard and watch the clouds. He would look for a place for solitude.

Did you believe in Santa? Yes – he remembers getting a red ball for Christmas.

What food did you eat as a child? Oatmeal for breakfast, peanut butter & Jelly sandwich for lunch, hamburger gravy with potatoes for Supper. He really liked his potatoes, hence his nickname from his mom “her potato boy”.

What was you favorite song as a teenager? Wake up Little Susie

The first time you saw a: Television – in the military. Airplane – in the military. Refrigerator – can’t remember

Who is your closest friend right now? Fred Pauley and Jim Bland

Who is the friend in your life you’ve had for the longest? Junior Bartley

What was the hardest decision you’ve ever made? Marrying Anita

What are some hard life events that changed your life? -Donna passing away -Donna getting sick in Kansas (2002) – when Barbara was born -when Janet passed away

What are some positive events that changed your life? -Meeting Donna. Accepting Christ

What is the funniest joke you ever played on someone. Nothing in particular. He has always liked to tease people.

Have you ever played a musical instrument? Mrs. Davis from the Salvation Army tried to teach him to play the guitar

What activities have you really enjoyed as an adult? -Camping. -CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association)

If you could give your 18-year-old self advise what would it be? Read the Bible

If you could give your 40-year-old self advise what would it be?Spend more time studying the Bible

If you could go back to any age in your life what would it be and why? He’s not sure he’d even want to go back.

How do you define a good successful life? A good family that loves Jesus

What’s the best advice you’ve been given? Turn to Jesus – He’s our only hope

How do you feel about getting older? Never has dreaded getting older

Has anyone ever saved your life? Korea – August 31, 1952

What family trip do you remember the most? In 1976 we took a family trip out west to Wyoming and the beautiful Teton mountains.
